If every city were to have a word to describe it, Royal would be befittingly reserved for Udaipur. And that’s exactly why Sundip and Reena so wanted to get married in Udaipur.
Here’s the thing about Udaipur there’s no getting away from the magical spell of its sublime scenery. With lakes and hills around, it’s like you just know it in your gut that this is my wedding destination. If you would visit this place, you would know why and if you have already visited it, you know what we are saying.
Though your logical head might try to persuade you to choose Jaipur as it is logistically more convenient but you find the scale to be tipping to Udaipur.
The couple had visited Jaipur and Udaipur both and they decided on Udaipur to be their Wedding destination.
Now the task was to find the hotel. Udaipur has all ranges of hotel but we were clear that we wanted a hotel overlooking either Lake Pichola or Fatehsagar. Here we had an upper hand as client was looking at August for wedding which is off season and thereupon we got good rates from almost all hotels and we chose Sheraton Hotel and Resort Udaipur. It has many lawns and banquet hall to cater to various wedding events. They also gave us the option of upgrade to Club room, subject to availability of course.
Well not all was smooth sailing. There was a tiny glitch that it is monsoons during August in Udaipur. And yeah it did get a little eventful.
There were 3 events, Welcome Dinner on rooftop on Day 1, Haldi in morning and Mehndi Sangeet night on Day 2, wedding in morning and reception dinner on Day 3.
For welcome Dinner, the setting was just as beautiful as it gets with the rooftop venue. Décor was done largely with Indian flowers. Everyone really loved the brides jhoola and enjoyed the puppet show and kalbeliya dancers.
For Haldi, in one of the lawn, we created two different backdrops for bride and groom facing each other. So that no one misses out on each other’s haldi!
For Mehndi Sangeet we organized a Dandiya theme night in the lawns. It was in open and it could have rained, we had banquet hall as a backup but God was kind and it didn’t rain.
Wedding was next day in early morning. Bride was very clear to have a white mandap. We were even able to source the white carpet so that the only flash of colour was of bride and grooms attire. Whilst the wedding was half way, it started drizzling. The lawn was very close to the banquet hall so quickly hawan kund and chairs were shifted indoors. Wedding ceremony was concluded inside.
Since the bride was keen on having an open air wedding under white mandap, we convinced the family to do varmala exchange and rest of the photography there as by now it had stopped pouring. So finally at least in pictures, she has a white wedding mandap.
Reception was indoors in evening as it could have rained. We did make a photo corner outside but kept everything else inside. And as a matter of fact it rained torrentially. Reception was purple themed and we got the customized cake from Taj Lake Palace Hotel, which was oh so gorgeous and beyond delicious.
