Here’s the thing, whether we admit or not, we all have our favorites, Nikki and Steve are ours. That doesn’t a tad bit imply others aren’t but then again a few are closer to your heart.
They are the loveliest couple we have met. It was such a delight to meet and know them.
We met them just a day prior to the wedding. They had independently finalized the venue, a beach shack, Ciarans. This was our first beach shack wedding and we were thinking why they are so keen on a beach shack thing.
We suggested Royal Orchid. We also advised them that we could just do the ceremony and reception dinner at Park Hyatt. But they had Ciarans on their mind. Just like there’s a different charm when you do an event in heritage property irrespective of its size, it’s a different air at the beach shack.
Agreed, there’s no privacy when opting for a beachshack but the energy and vibe of the place are so amazing.
Moreover, you can customize it to your taste. Beach shack weddings are relaxed, fun and casual. It’s a refreshingly different experience. No wonders Nikki and Steve were so gung ho on a beach shack wedding.
The wedding affair started with the mehendi ceremony and we had elephant’s miniatures, brocade potlis and mirrors as the giveaways. They are the quintessential souvenirs for the Indian weddings and are always a hit with the guests.
Next day was the wedding; the makeup artist arrived at 11, photographer’s work started early too. Mamatha, our photographer had already done couple shoot on day one evening. Bride looked ravishing in her white gown and was such a sport, went all the way in water for the shoot.
Nikki is Scottish and Steve is British. Nikki’s father walk her down the aisle and he looked so dashing (almost stole the thunder from Steve). As Nikki is Scottish, they used horse shoe and few other elements in her bridal bouquet. It was an interesting trivia for us.
Earlier Steve was supposed to wear kilt but it wasn’t possible in the heat in Goa. Once groom arrived on elephant, everyone as in everyone had their eyes on the traditionally decorated elephant.
Reception dinner was organized at Tapas restaurant next to Ciarans. The dinner started with cake cutting and it was a surprise for couple. They had left it onto us for cake and we had not shown them the design we had chosen for cake. Also as Nikki was vegan, we arranged for vegan cupcakes which she could share with her family. Cake by bumblebee cake was delectable and looked fabulous too!
The party went on with music and songs and Melven as live band with songs.
The stationary was designed by Steve. Steve is a designer and you can see his work here. We are in queue to get a tattoo designed by him!
Next day we parted with sweet memories.
