In general, weddings could look similar but every wedding has a unique flavor to it. Only a professional candid photographer or wedding cinematographer could capture these unique moments and freeze these forever, like a fond memory. This cannot be done by regular posed photography or coverage video.
We caught up with Ajay Kedare, the Creative Head of CandidShutters, and had quite a long but informative conversation. CandidShutters is a young photography and videography company who provide all types of photo-video under one roof, however their expertise lies in “Wedding Cinema” and “Candid Photography”.

At “CandidShutters” every wedding that we do is a celebration for us. We enjoy every bit of it.. the colors, the aroma and the vivid emotions of people. We simply try to absorb everything. There are no rules, no fixed time, frame or angles to shoot.
We believe that just like “humans” every “Wedding Celebration” is unique too. This ability to Observe, Absorb & Create gives the distinct touch to whichever project we do.
Our Team :It was the love for “Real Life Story” that brought Pranjal and me together. Madness or Passion is the only thing that can describe Pranjal’s decision to abandon his secure plump corporate life and start CandidShutters”. Pranjal Kumar, an engineer from prestigious BITS, Pilani and a management graduate from NMIMS, Mumbai, always wanted to see things in different frames and angles. It was his attempt to mix his passion for photography and business background that gave birth to “CandidShutters”.
I come from a professional media background. From being a Film Editor to Creative- Head of Post-Production for some of the biggest Reality Shows on Indian Television, it was my search for the “Real Life Stories” and urge to understand the uniqueness of people that led me to Wedding cinematography and eventually to CandidShutters. At “CandidShutters” Pranjal and myself have created an environment that gives us the freedom to enjoy what we do, Pranjal being the “Business Head” and I being the Creative Head.

Often in wedding ceremonies, the most beautiful of emotions are the glances exchanged between the couple, the joyous laughs of the friends, the appreciating looks on the guests’ faces, the anxiety on the bride’s face, the tearful eyes of the mother, the brother running the errands and attending to the guests. These precious moments are best captured without the knowledge of the subject- in its true naturalness, this is “Candid Photography” for us.
On the other hand Traditional Photography is best described by the staged formal shots of the bride and groom with all their loved ones. These are pre-planned shots and require lots of direction from the photographer who like a coordinator assists and guides the subjects to pose in their best of postures and expressions for that perfect picture.
“A Documentary Style Wedding Film” helps people express their emotions for each other, for example if the bride is really chirpy and most attached to her father, hercharacteristics will come out in her “Wedding Film”. Clever Interviews, apt music and crisp editing is what required to make a perfect “Wedding Cinema”
In short, Candid Photography or Documentary Style Wedding Film should capture the subtle flavor of the wedding atmosphere. Aesthetically capturing the moment in the raw form is what we call “Candid Photography”.
Traditional Photography is more of coverage of the event. So definitely it is more than terminology for at least people like us who take their jobs very seriously.
